Mary Ann Mahoney, the oldest child of John and Mary, was born in Conneaut Township, Crawford County, probably in 1858. In the 1860 census she is listed as 2 years old. She stayed at home and took care of her parents until the summer of 1902. In a letter, dated July 8, 1902, from John to his son, Martin, living in Buffalo at the time, John writes "Mary went house keeping in Cleveland about a month ago."

We had thought that she married her husband after moving to Cleveland, but while searching photocopied records from St. Peter's Church in Conneautville, I located a marriage record which indicates that Mary Mahoney married John B. Sheridan on August 20, 1901. Father Butler made the entry. Mary Ann Sheridan died at St. Mary's Home in Erie, Pa. I have no record of the date or where she is buried.
