Catherine Mahoney, born Mar. 12, 1867, probably the first to be born on the farm on Palmer Road, became a school teacher and later joined the Order of St. Joseph in Erie, Pa. She was recommended to the community by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Cauley. She entered the order on Sept. 7, 1889, her investiture was on March 19, 1890, and her final profession was on Aug. 23, 1892, before Rt. Rev. Bishop Mullen. According to some material provided by the Sisters of St. Joseph, Sister Sebastian's assignments were:

Under remarks it says:
"Sister Sebastian was one of our finest grade school teachers. This is evidenced by the long years she spent in the profession, especially the years spent at St. John School. Her name was almost synonymous with the school. People from three generations of St. John Parish attended her funeral."
She was both a teacher and a principal at St. John School. She died February 21, 1946.
