Was a Deacon in the church of Preston, part of Norwich.
He was a signer of the Preston, CT petition to the Legislature for incorporation of the town in October 1686, and is named among the fifteen landholders on the Plantation Act, dated 15 Jan. 1686, on record at Preston. He was a Connecticut volunteer in the Narragansett Campaign of King Philip's War and an original proprietor of Voluntown, CT. At the time of his death, his estate was valued at $3,125
